News!

Weather

After a very early easter and the school holidays being spread over a 5 week period we are now starting to enjoy warmer and longer days.

The sun has been shining now for a week with temperatures hiting 23 degrees celcius and a slight sea breeze has made this all very pleasant to be outside in the fresh air.

Our midge exterminators have now been fired up for another year of keeping the wee beasties under control. These 2 machines have made a noticeable difference in reducing the midges around Sunnybrae even though they were never bad in the first place. We have been told that it takes 4 years to break the midge reproduction cycle and with this now being our 5th year of having the machines we don't expect to see many around!

Chicks

We now have 2 fluffy chicks that were hatched last week, its too early to tell if they are boys or girls but we are hoping they are hens.

Wildlife

Our guests saw porpoises in the sound recently over a 4 day period but no more dolphins have been seen since february. The boat trips around the islandsare very popular and Dave, the skipper of Porpoise II saw his first whale of the season this week.

New Caravans 4 and 6 for 2008

For 2008 wel have 2 brand new 4 berth vans sited. Van 6 is slightly longer at 30ft than Van 4 which is 28ft long. One feature of both vans is the bigger front windows to make the most of the scenery as well as the double glazing and creature comforts of a new model.

All Vans replaced

In the 5 years that we have now been enjoying our new life at Sunnybrae, we have replaced all the vans that were sited here when we moved in 2003. We now have 5 vans that we have bought brand new and 2 good quality pre-owned vans. We are hoping to replace these 2 vans within the next couple of years.

Long wheel based vehicles

We have decided that from now on, large vehicles will not be allowed on site. Sunnybrae is a small site with a narrow single track road and we do not really have room for large vehicles to park or turn around in without damaging the grass. If you do decide to bring a LWB transit with you, it will have to be left by the ferry slipway during your holiday and we can provide you with a trolley to assist you in unloading and loading. We are sorry if this causes any inconveniance and we hope our guests will understand.

"The Bothy"

Our information shed has proved very successful with our guests. Inside you will find barbeques, DVD films, holiday reading books, guide books and wildlife guides, games, fishing nets & lots of information about enjoying great days out in the area.

DVDs

Each caravan now has a DVD player. Although we know that most of you come for the fresh air and days out, it can be nice to settle down in the evening to watch a film, especially with children. We have a collection of approximately 70 DVDs already and we do ask for a small contribution for each film watched to help us keep our library upto date.

Christmas 2008

If you fancy eating your xmas dinner whilst over looking the sea, this year we will have vans 3,4,5,6 and 7 available from saturday 20th - 27th December 2008 only. Please contact us for full details.

Best wishes,

Mike and Rosy
